QUIZ

Last evening was our third quiz. After a day of catastrophes all went well. As my car was in hospital I had to find a lift. I had the questions and answer sheets and was supposed to be reading out the French questions with Glyn. I asked four people if they could take me with no success. I managed to send the answer sheets to Glyn who was ill but thought she could manage to drive to the venue to deliver them then return to her bed.  At the 11th hour I got the offer of two lifts and I managed to type up the questions but without the 4 choices.  Glyn was able to stay in bed. and I had the honour of reading all the French questions. It was good practice for me and I tried to ignore the giggles at my appalling accent from our French friends. No photos this time.

The Poetry and Water Colour Workshop at Library

Under the Sea The Piano Poet We had to press a key and up popped a phrase. We chose two phrases. And there were also wooden blocks with phrases on and we had to choose phrases to build a poetry wall. There were other ways of choosing phrases and then we put some together to make our poems. We ended with readings of poems. The participants covered the whole spectrum from 6 to 80 year olds.

Fish and chips

I forgot that we (JUBBIL) had a Fish and Chips and Karaoke Night on St George's Day. Most people wore red and white and Alan and Veronique decorated the bar with red and white balloons. It was successful and people sang after the committee started the ball rolling with Mama Mia. We enjoyed dancing too.

Mini Break

I spent two days at 'The Mill'. My friend's, friend's family Summer pile which consists of 4 stone buildings of various sizes. The endoit is very beautiful being by the side of a river and surrounded by mature trees. The sound of water is never absent. We had planned to go to a Fez Noz on Sunday evening and the beach on Monday but we were the only two in this special place and chose to enjoy the peace and tranquility. When I returned home to my garden I felt the lack of the sound of water. Photos to follow.

Other People's Gardens

The Gay Gardener Cheshire I love the photos on this facebook page I wish he /she would write a blog. Will my garden ever be like this? I have said it before and now repeat it. The three things one needs for gardening are: time patience and energy I have none of these but maybe determination figures somewhere and I have that plus enthusiasm.

Back to Grass

As I expected the grass had grown very long while I was away so I rushed off to town to buy the Rolls Royce lawn mower that I had viewed before going to the UK. Since the Estate Agent had gone into liquidation with £1000 of my money I had to make a big decision. At my age I either have to have the right tools or stop gardening. Since the garden is my life I made a risky choice. The garden won and the credit card took the biggest hit since it came into my hands. I cut the whole of my 5,000 square metres of grass in one day!!! Not bad for a 70 year old. But I suppose the credit should really go to my new super-duper mower.
