Family affair

My house and garden privided the ideal setting for a family birthday. I felt that all my hard work in the garden was rewarded and everbody appreciated it? Everybody had a turn in the hammock!   Contemplation

Fruits of Gardening

I have just spent an enjoyable hour gathering the fruits of my labour. I large bowl of strawberries and a smaller bowl of raspberries which were hanging in the early morning sun like rubies. Soft fruit is the real treasure in my garden. My favourite fruit used to be gooseberries but although I have bushes which are producing lovely green jewels they disappear before they ripen and I can collect them. Is it the birds? At least they are leaving the raspberries.

Cat and Dog

The dog chased the cat up the tree. Then sat for 3 hours waiting for it to come down. That's the sort of patience I need in the garden when I am waiting for seeds and plants to grow.

Weekend Away

Image
Last weekend I was the guest of my friend who lives near Auray near Vannes. As well as shopping in the market and going to a BBQ and out to lunch twice the best part for me was being able to practice my French for 3 days. It is impossible to go on a diet in France unless you stay at home to eat. French meals consist of 5 courses with a different beverage with each one. It feels impolite to refuse anything. My friend wanted to show me the whole of Morbihan in a weekend. It was difficult to explain that at my age one event a day is all I can manage so I came back completely shattered.
